Custom Order Process:

Customizing standard mantel products, custom mantel styles and custom furniture are key services offered by Wood Duck.

Wood Duck will respond to custom mantel and furniture requests with drawings &/or dimensions and a quote in a timely fashion. Communication, information & confirmation are the key steps to a satisfactory completion of the custom project.

Customizing Standard Mantel Products are usually size related – i.e. the installation site is either smaller than the standard dimensions of the mantel, there’s an obstruction like a door or window or the customer has a desire for some aspect of the design to be altered for personal aesthetic reasons.

Custom Design Mantel Products most often are a personal aesthetically based choice, though sometimes influenced by space restrictions. Dimensional information is necessary, however unless size is the issue the given dimensions will only be relevant to aesthetic issues.

Custom Non-fireplace Projects are a source of great pride and we quite enjoy these requests. Follow the steps outlined below and we will respond promptly, to advise whether we can go forward with the request and if so, to supply a quote based on the information exchanged.

When ordering a standard mantel product with custom sizing:

Supply all customary information:
Product model / name (use Architectural drawing)
Fireplace model / note rear or top vent application if there’s a choice
Wood type
Finish
Specific information regarding the nature of the requested size change.
Identify and give the critical dimensions (refer to Architectural drawing).
Give a short explanation of reason for change request – i.e. doorway or window interference.
Supply a sketch or drawing if possible – preferably by email rather than fax. (example)
If the design change request is purely aesthetic:
Clearly identify the change. (Use either the architectural or a sketch)
Include notes with relevant explanation of change.

When ordering a custom designed mantel product:

Supply all customary information:
Fireplace model / note rear or top vent application if there’s a choice
Wood type
Finish
Supply a photo (preferably) or sketch of the mantel design.
Note key dimensions (use a Wood Duck architectural drawing as a guide)
Include any specific required or desired size dimensions – i.e. shelf depth / leg width, boot size, etc.
Identify any specific shapes, mouldings or other decorative aspects desired.
Add any notes that will help clarify the request. Be clear on which aspects of the design or key as well as which dimensions (if any).

When ordering a custom designed non-mantel product:

Supply a photo (preferably) or sketch of the design.
Include wood type, finish and any other general nature information
Include specific size information

We cannot possibly satisfy every custom request that comes our way. On occasion, though rarely, site size limitations and fireplace clearance requirements make for an impossible situation. We guarantee our mantel products will not contravene fireplace manufacturers clearance requirements. Obviously we have some limitations and cannot fulfill every request but we do our best and encourage our customers to inquire.
